WHY CHOOSE FAMOSO

  • An Authentic Experience

Famoso is a neighbourhood pizzeria founded on the passion for authentic, fire-roasted pizzas from Naples, Italy, which is the birthplace of pizza. Eating a margherita pizza in Italy is a daily ritual as culinary traditions in pizza making have gone unchanged for 200 years. Whether you eat it on the streets of Naples or inside Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar, experiencing authentic Neapolitan pizza is an unforgettable experience.

  •  The Vibrant Atmosphere

At Famoso, you will find a fun and vibrant atmosphere there any day of the week. It’s where great food and good friends make the perfect ingredients for a memorable night. You will find the energy of an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria and the delicious tastes of fresh, pizzaiolo-tossed pizzas along with signature Italian dishes and a great selection of wine, craft beer and cocktails.

  • The Fresh Ingredients

What makes our pizzas unique to North America is our passionate adherence to the strict standards of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN – a Naples-based organization dedicated to preserving the standards of authentic pizza). We import our flour and tomatoes from Naples, and every pizza is topped with fior-di-latte (fresh whole milk mozzarella) and other fresh ingredients. After being cooked in our 900 degree fire oven for 90 seconds, the thin-crust pizza is light, soft and crispy. Because of the low levels of gluten in the flour and overall integrity and quality of all of our ingredients, eating this style of pizza allows you to easily digest and feel great.

  • Our Focus on Great Service

As a brand, we also strive to be known for the best hospitality for all our guests. We want to treat them better than anyone else in the restaurant industry because our reputation lies more on how we serve others, rather than what we serve.

GROWING OUR UNIQUE BRAND

In 2015, we introduced an updated version of the Famoso brand.  All locations became full table-side service and the menu was expanded to include pastas.  Future Famoso pizzerias have an expanded menu of appetizers, a line-up of six pastas, and feature a centre bar with eight beers on tap and lounge area with high top tables and big screen TVs.

The design is open concept with an atmosphere and style allowing a comfortable meal. It’s perfect for  a quick lunch or a social evening with your favourite drink in hand.  All of these additions strengthen Famoso’s offering as a great spot to watch the game, have a date night, or simply spend the evening among friends. Our kitchen is also an open concept. It highlights the beautiful bell fire oven and pizzaiolos tossing dough as they prepare pizzas while guests watch.  In the summer, the patio provides a great people-watching oasis.

SEE THE NEW FAMOSO LOCATIONS AT GUILDFORD TOWN CENTRE IN SURREY, AT EASTGATE IN REGINA OR AT SOPA SQUARE IN KELOWNA.

Independence, rewarding work, and building equity are just a few of the benefits of owning your own business. Owning a Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar gives you the opportunity to be a part of a successful team that focuses on passion for authentic Neapolitan pizza, a great guest experience and being profitable.

Since it began, Famoso’s unique and quality-driven concept has been carving a niche in the pizza market nation-wide and has drawn a lot of attention and positive feedback. Famoso never compromises quality and success, and we seek partners that value the same.

1. CALL US TO REVIEW OPPORTUNITIES

After initial discussion, we will provide a franchise application form. You and any partners will need to complete and return.

2. Corporate Review

The application is reviewed by the Famoso corporate team. This can include a credit check of the applicant.

3. Meeting

The interested party is contacted by Famoso and a meeting is arranged at Famoso’s corporate office in Vancouver, BC to meet the Famoso family. Franchise and Disclosure agreement is given to the potential franchisee for review. Under Alberta and Ontario law, a 14-day period must elapse before the agreement can be signed. Potential franchisee begins to secure financing.

4. Questionnaire/Background Check

A questionnaire is completed by the franchise applicant. The questionnaire will be reviewed and a background check will be done by Famoso’s corporate office.

5. Franchise Agreement

Famoso notifies the candidate if they are approved or denied. If approved, a Franchise Agreement is sent to the approved candidate to be signed, at which time, the franchise fee is paid.

6. Location

Once a lease has been signed, the timeline is typically 120 days for planning, design, permitting, and choosing a contractor, and another 120 days to construct the interior of the location. Therefore, expect 8 months until your pizzeria is open. If a location has not been selected, then this is the next step in the process. Famoso’s real estate professional will look for locations and tour sites along with the potential franchisees.

7. Franchisee Training

The franchisee fills any necessary management positions and they all complete the training program. Training typically starts in conjuction with construction, which is approximately 90 days before opening.

8. Pre-opening Checklist

The franchisee will complete several tasks in order to prepare for the opening of the business. These tasks have timelines and begin from the time the franchise agreement is signed, up to when your pizzeria opens.

9. Hiring Staff

The franchisee will advertise and hire the required number of staff approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the commencement of training. Training will not begin until required number of staff has been hired.

10. In-store Training

Famoso’s Corporate training team will spend 4 to 5 weeks (pre to post opening) training the new staff along with the franchisees.

GETTING STARTED

Securing a great location really is the foundation of building a successful business. Without solid relationships with both real estate agents and landlords, ones chances of securing an “A” location are slim to none. That’s why Famoso works exclusively with our commercial real estate teams to secure top quality sites across the country. Our real estate teams know the Famoso brand well, and know what demographics, neighborhoods, and trade areas fit our brand. They represent us with pride and dignity when dealing with landlords; which strengthens our relationships and reputation. This works to our franchisees benefit, which is evident in our solid base of existing locations.

TRAINING

Famoso offers one of the most comprehensive training programs in the industry.  We then put you and your management team (3 people) through 8-12 weeks of one-on-one training in one of our locations. This is followed by 3 weeks of on-location training and support when you open your pizzeria.

SUPPORT

As franchisors, we see ourselves as business consultants who strive to provide feedback that will make your pizzeria busier and better. We’ve done everything our franchisees are doing first hand, and make ourselves available for questions and requests. We also focus on maintaining consistency in our branding, food, and service between stores. We base Famoso’s success on our reputation, and we work hard to ensure all Famoso’s are upholding this reputation.

1. How can I open a Famoso Italian Pizzeria + Bar?

Famoso actively seeks individuals who have the potential to be great partners. Our franchisees should have personal financial qualifications, individual motivation, a track record for success, and a passion for the service industry.

2. How much money do I need to open a franchise?

To start, you should have unencumbered cash of about $350,000 to $700,000.  Contact us to find out more.

3. How much are the royalties and other annual fees?

Royalty fees are 6% of gross sales. Marketing fees are 2% of gross sales.

4. How much can I make as a Famoso franchisee?

We are restricted by law from providing you with specific profit projections. We provide you with existing store sales and operating costs to help you create projections for profits.

5. Does Famoso offer financing?

No. However, Famoso can direct potential franchisees to sources that have provided financing options to other franchisees in the areas of Canada Small Business Loans and equipment leasing.

6. How long does it take to open the store?

It typically takes approximately 8 months from the day a lease is signed to secure your location.

7. What kind of training can I expect as a franchisee?

Famoso offers one of the most comprehensive training programs in the industry. The first week we take you to Naples, Italy for an opportunity to visit real Neapolitan pizzerias, taste authentic pizza, visit some of our ingredient suppliers, and learn about Neapolitan culture. We then put you and your management team (3 people) through 8-12 weeks of one-on-one training in one of our locations.

8. How is food quality and consistency maintained?

Famoso has negotiated contracts with suppliers to ensure that each pizzeria receives the same products at competitive pricing. Furthermore, the systems and tools used by Famoso ensure accurate inventory levels, freshly and properly prepared ingredients, and consistent recipes.

9. I’m interested in pursuing this further. What should I do next?
